Day 2: Drive through the Atlas Mountains to Merzouga

Following breakfast, we'll proceed through the Dades Valley, pausing at a vantage point overlooking the valley to soak in the grandeur of Dades Gorges. Our journey then takes us to Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has sculpted a magnificent canyon with imposing red cliffs.

You'll have the opportunity to explore the gorges at your leisure and savor the beauty of the landscape. Afterward, we'll traverse the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, with a break for lunch along the way.

In the afternoon, we'll arrive at the Merzouga Sahara desert, where you'll spend the night at Kasbah and enjoy a sumptuous dinner.

Day 2: Trekking in the Sahara

After a hearty breakfast, we'll convene at the Kasbah to prepare for our desert trek. As a unified nomadic caravan, we'll embark on a journey across the endless, undulating dunes with expansive desert vistas all around us. Frequent stops will offer moments of refreshment, breathtaking views, and opportunities to catch our breath.

Finally, our guides will signal our arrival at the perfect spot nestled among the colossal dunes. Here, we'll establish our camp, creating a cozy atmosphere with carpets and candles that illuminate the sandy surroundings. As the sun sets, we'll bask in the remote beauty of this unique locale.

Day 3: 4WD Desert excursion, Tea with nomads, Luxury camp stay

Following a revitalizing shower and breakfast, we'll embark on an exciting 4WD off-road tour of the dunes.

During this excursion, we will visit the Merzouga oasis, the nomadic repository, and the Khamlia Village, where you can immerse yourself in the captivating sounds of Gnawa music performed by locals who trace their ancestry back to ex-slaves that once journeyed to Morocco from Senegal via the historic Salt Route.

Our journey will then take us to meet desert nomads in their traditional tents, allowing you to gain insight into their unique way of life. We will also make a stop at the nearby Lake of Merzouga, renowned for its diverse bird population.

Following our exploration, we will set course for Rissani, once known as Sijilmassa, a pivotal meeting point for salt caravans arriving from Timbuktu, Mali. Here, you'll have the opportunity to stroll through the bustling souk, where you can discover an array of spices, fresh produce, and clothing.

Following a delightful pizza lunch in Rissani, our journey leads us back to our Kasbah. Upon arrival, a warm welcome awaits, complete with a refreshing glass of tea or wine. Then, embark a camel transfer to the Luxury ECO Tiziri Camp soaking in the mesmerizing sunset if it graces us with its presence. As night descends, we'll relish in the flavors of Moroccan cuisine during a delectable dinner.
